We set up this simple assembly line for the ease of doing our project. We just went all out and made lots of crayon shavings and wanted to use it all up ! haha !

We grated the crayons to create some crayon shavings. Now this a little bit hard for Big S , so I stepped in and turned to my good ol’ grater for help. Since Valentine’s day is just around the corner, we did heart cutouts from foam sheets for our project.

Sprinkle the crayon shavings onto the foam hearts and to make it stick, cover it with a wax paper and iron. Just press and lift up the iron and pull back the wax paper. You can create a smear if you slide the iron or press it down too long, so be advised.

Use glitter glue to decorate the edges or write on the hearts. Punch out holes, and use chenille stems to make a hanging display of your melted crayon hearts creation.

  1. These are lovely and what a fun process! I have been wanting to try this for a long time now, but been too lazy to grate the crayon bits, easier for me to melt them in muffin tray into chunky crayons :)
